Dr. Suzie Morgan Honored as GFB 2025 Woman of the Year

Greater First Baptist Church proudly celebrates Dr. Suzie Morgan as our GFB 2025 Woman of the Year. Dr. Morgan’s unwavering dedication, compassionate spirit, and servant heart have left an indelible mark on our congregation and the broader community.

As an active member of our Deaconess Board, Dr. Morgan models Christlike humility and steadfast faith. Whether visiting homebound members, assisting in church ordinances, or mentoring younger generations of women, her life exemplifies Proverbs 31:25: “She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.”

“Dr. Suzie Morgan is a cornerstone of faith and grace at Greater First Baptist Church,” stated Senior Pastor Cary J. Melvin. “Her love for the Lord, devotion to her church family, and tireless pursuit of excellence inspire us all. We celebrate her well-deserved honor and thank God for her continued impact in our midst.”

Please join Pastor Melvin, First Lady Clementine Melvin, and the entire Greater First Baptist Church family in congratulating Dr. Suzie Morgan on this distinguished recognition.

Celebrating 17 Years of Pastoral Excellence: Honoring Rev. Cary J. Melvin

In August 2026, Greater First Baptist Church rejoices in celebrating the 17th Pastoral Anniversary of our beloved shepherd, Rev. Cary J. Melvin, and First Lady Clementine McNatt Melvin.

Since answering the divine call to lead Greater First Baptist in 2009, Pastor Melvin has guided this historic congregation with profound biblical wisdom, clinical pastoral empathy, and visionary kingdom strategy. Under his anointed ministry, Greater First has expanded its community food distribution, enriched youth and discipleship education, and revitalized our sanctuary and digital outreach.

Pastor Melvin shares this milestone alongside his soulmate of more than 39 years, First Lady Clementine Melvin, their four adult children—Jeremy Nathaniel, Tabitha Nicole, Caleb Jonathan, and Tamara—and three cherished grandchildren: Cherish Aubriel, Kehlani Alaia, and Malachi.

Our official 17th Pastoral Anniversary Service will convene on Sunday, August 2, 2026 at 3:00 PM in the Main Sanctuary, preceded by our annual Pastoral Outing on Saturday, August 1st at 5:00 PM. We invite all church members, friends, and community leaders to join us in honoring God’s faithful servants.

Greater First Baptist Prepares for 117th Homecoming: “Spreading the Gospel to All Nations”

Greater First Baptist Church Cedar Creek is preparing for its historic 117th Church Homecoming Celebration on Sunday, September 27, 2026. This year’s sacred milestone is celebrated under the inspired theme: “Spreading the Gospel to all Nations”, grounded in the Great Commission of Matthew 28:19.

Founded in 1909 as the First Baptist Church of Cedar Creek, our congregation has stood as a radiant beacon of hope, Christian discipleship, and benevolent community support across more than a century of history. Through generations of faithful pastors, deacons, trustees, and matriarchs, God’s hand has guided Greater First from humble rural beginnings into an active modern fellowship.

Homecoming Sunday will feature a glorious morning worship celebration at 11:00 AM, followed by a fellowship banquet and an afternoon revival service at 3:00 PM. All alumni, former members, family descendants, and neighbors are warmly welcomed home to celebrate 117 years of God’s unchanging faithfulness.
